Three Political Prisoners Sentenced to Death Transferred to Unknown Locations from Orumiyeh Central Prison

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on the morning of Thursday, April 30, 2026, three political prisoners sentenced to death; Nasser Bakrzadeh, Yaghoub Karimpour, and Mehrab Abdollahzadeh were separately removed from Orumiyeh Central Prison and transferred to unknown locations. As of the time of this report, these three prisoners have not returned to their wards, and there is no information regarding their current status or whereabouts.

According to an informed source, Nasser Bakrzadeh was summoned to the prison’s Sentence Enforcement Office this morning along with two other prisoners and was subsequently taken out of the prison in a refrigerated vehicle. Additionally, Yaghoub Karimpour was removed from the prison under the pretext of being sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office and has not yet returned.

Regarding Mehrab Abdollahzadeh, it has been reported that he was previously transferred to solitary confinement, and there is currently no precise information about his physical condition, location, or the status of his execution process.

The simultaneous and non-transparent transfer of these three political prisoners on death row has significantly heightened concerns regarding the imminent risk of their executions. These concerns are particularly grave given that the execution of Nasser Bakrzadeh’s sentence had recently been stayed, the stay of execution for Mehrab Abdollahzadeh has expired, and Yaghoub Karimpour’s case remains in a state of uncertainty before the Supreme Court.

The charges leading to their death sentences by the Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court are as follows:
Nasser Bakrzadeh: Charges related to “espionage for Israel/Mossad.”
Yaghoub Karimpour: “Efsad-fel-Arz” (Sowing Corruption on Earth) through “espionage for Israel.”
Mehrab Abdollahzadeh: “Efsad-fel-Arz” through “participation in the intentional murder of a Basij member.”
The Hana Human Rights Organization expresses its serious alarm over the transfer of these prisoners to unknown locations and the danger of sudden execution. We demand the immediate disclosure of their status and whereabouts, the guarantee of their right to access legal counsel and family, an immediate halt to any execution proceedings, and the adherence to fair trial principles in their cases.
