Who We Are

Hana Human Rights Organization is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organization monitoring and documenting the human rights situation in Iran, with particular attention to Iranian Kurdistan.

Founded in 2019, Hana conducts human rights documentation, legal and policy research, public reporting and international advocacy. Its activities extend across several countries and include engagement with civil society actors and relevant international human rights mechanisms.

Hana is officially based in Canada. Its legal entity, HANA HUMAN RIGHTS ASSOCIATION, was incorporated under the Societies Act of British Columbia on 1 August 2024. Its registered purposes include the defence and promotion of human rights through advocacy, education, research and support for individuals and groups whose rights are threatened or violated.

Hana operates independently of governments, political parties, religious institutions and commercial interests. Its work is guided by accuracy, impartiality, accountability, transparency and international human rights standards.
