According to information verified by HANA Human Rights Organization, the identities of ten individuals killed in two recent armed clashes between forces affiliated with Kurdish opposition parties and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Piranshahr and Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province, have now been confirmed.
HANA’s documentation indicates that six members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) were killed during an armed clash on the evening of Wednesday, 1 July 2026, near the village of Qezqapan in Piranshahr County. The individuals have been identified as Karo Hormozyari, Fardin Changizi, Mohammad Khaki, Abdollah Mohammadpour, Tavana Osmani, and Mohammad Amin Bayzidi. These findings supplement HANA’s initial reporting on the number and identities of those killed in the incident.
In a separate incident, the People’s Defense Forces (YRK), the armed wing of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK), issued a statement on Saturday, 4 July 2026, identifying four of its members who, according to the organization, were killed during an armed clash with IRGC forces on Monday, 29 June 2026, near the village of Gagesh in Mahabad County. The individuals were identified as Zarin Akbas, from Tatvan, Turkey; Khalil Cicek, from Mus, Turkey; Parastoo Safaeipour, from Marivan, Iran; and Rasoul Yeganeh, from Khoy, Iran.
Information collected by HANA, including accounts from local sources, indicates that several ambulances were dispatched to the Gagesh area during or immediately after the confrontation to evacuate those killed and injured. However, HANA has not been able to independently verify the number of IRGC personnel killed or wounded during the incident and therefore does not report casualty figures for IRGC forces at this stage.
At the time of publication, the Iranian authorities had not released independently verifiable information regarding the number of casualties, the identities of those killed, or the condition of any injured members of their forces in connection with either incident.
