According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Shirzad (Behrouz) Ghasemi, a 30 year old man from illam, died on Sunday, September 20, 2026, after spending several weeks hospitalized due to injuries sustained from gunshot wounds.
The incident occurred in the early hours of August 28, 2026, at around 3 a.m., at his residence. According to the information received, Behrouz Ghasemi was shot multiple times while resting in his bedroom. After neighbors were alerted and emergency services and police arrived, he was transferred to a hospital and fell into a coma due to the severity of his injuries. Medical efforts to save his life were ultimately unsuccessful, and he died several weeks later.
Different accounts have emerged regarding the person or persons responsible for the shooting. According to information received, Nariman Ghasemi, Behrouz’s father, has claimed responsibility for the killing. However, some relatives and acquaintances of the deceased allege that his half siblings were responsible for the shooting and that the father accepted responsibility in order to prevent legal consequences for his other children.
