Sardar Ranjbar Dies After Falling From Scaffolding in Orumiyeh

According to information received by HANA Human Rights Organization, Sardar Ranjbar, a young worker from the village of Kalwaran in Salmas County, died on Thursday, July 30, 2026, after falling from scaffolding while working at a building complex in Orumiyeh.

He suffered severe injuries after hitting the ground and, despite being taken to a medical center, died from the severity of his wounds, according to information received by HANA.

This is the second worker to die from a scaffolding fall in just a few days. The day before, Mehran Rasouli, a young worker from Bukan, died in Sardasht after roughly 40 days in hospital from injuries sustained in a similar fall. These recurring, fatal accidents point to serious gaps in the enforcement of safety and technical protection requirements at worksites, incidents that, in many cases, could be prevented through proper safety standards, personal protective equipment, and effective oversight of regulatory compliance. Their continued occurrence throws into sharp relief the responsibility employers and the bodies tasked with workplace safety oversight bear for protecting workers’ lives and health.
