Asti Mohammadi Granted Temporary Release on Substantial Bail

The Hana Human Rights Organization has received reports that Asti Mohammadi, a 67-year-old Bukan resident and the mother of two Kurdish political activists, has been temporarily released on heavy bail after spending 15 days in the custody of Iranian security forces.

According to sources, security forces raided her home in Bukan on the evening of Monday, May 11, 2026. She was arrested without a judicial warrant and subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

Throughout her detention, Ms. Mohammadi’s family was kept entirely in the dark regarding her whereabouts, physical well-being, and the status of her case. Security agencies consistently refused to provide any official explanation for her arrest or outline any charges leveled against her.

Her advanced age and need for regular medical care had previously raised significant concerns about her overall health and her access to necessary medication and treatment while behind bars.

While Mohammadi has now been temporarily freed after posting a substantial bail, the ongoing judicial proceedings against her continue to fuel concerns regarding the possibility of her rearrest.
