Rasoul Yadyar Sentenced to Nine Years in Ta’zir Imprisonment and a Two-Year Travel Ban

According to reports received by HANA Human Rights Organization, Rasoul Yadyar, a citizen from Bukan, was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of that city, presided over by Judge Mahdi Fakhri, to a total of nine years in ta’zir imprisonment and a two-year travel ban. Under the law on multiple offenses, only the harshest penalty, five years in ta’zir imprisonment, will be enforced.

According to an informed source, the hearing was held on June 1, 2026 at the Bukan Revolutionary Court. He was sentenced to five years in ta’zir imprisonment on charges of “membership in an opposition party,” one year on charges of “propaganda against the state,” and three years on charges of “posting and distributing announcements.”

The source added that the court also imposed a two-year travel ban as a supplementary punishment. However, under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, only the harshest sentence, five years in ta’zir imprisonment, along with the supplementary punishment, will be carried out.

Rasoul Yadyar, 30 years old, originally from the village of Kog-Tapa Simineh and a resident of the village of Nachit in Bukan County, was arrested by security forces on December 16, 2025, without a judicial warrant, and transferred to the detention center of the city’s Intelligence Office.

HANA Human Rights Organization had previously reported that during his detention he was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture, resulting in a broken nose, jaw injury, and broken teeth. Throughout his entire detention, until his transfer to prison, he was also denied the right to receive visits or make phone calls to his family.

Rasoul Yadyar was eventually released on temporary bail of six billion tomans from Bukan Central Prison on May 23, 2026, pending the conclusion of his trial.
