The death sentence of Saleh Mohammadi a young wrestler was carried out along with two other prisoners in the central prison of Qom

The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Saleh Mohammadi, an 19-year-old detained during the January protests in Qom, was executed in the early hours of Thursday, 19 March 2026, along with two other prisoners, Mehdi Ghasemi and Saeed Davoudi, in Qom Central Prison, in the presence of a number of individuals.

According to Mizan News Agency, the three prisoners had been sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran on charges of “enmity against God” and “operational collaboration with Israel” in a case linked to the January protests.

Informed sources have emphasized that the judicial process was marked by serious ambiguities, and that the confessions obtained from the defendants were extracted under pressure during interrogations.

According to available information, Saleh Mohammadi denied the charge of murder and stated that the recorded confessions had been taken under coercion. His relatives also reported that he had been at his uncle’s house at the time of the incident, but the court refused to summon defense witnesses. According to sources close to the family, despite repeated efforts to appoint an independent lawyer, the court rejected the proposed attorneys and assigned a state-appointed lawyer to the case.

The execution of these sentences took place despite prior warnings by international human rights organizations about the increasing risk of death sentences being issued and carried out against detainees from recent protests.
