Soldier Killed and Another Wounded in Armed Incident on the Marivan Border

According to information received by HANA Human Rights Organization, in the early hours of Sunday, August 2, 2026, an army soldier named Abolfazl Goudarzi was killed and another service member wounded, and taken to a medical center for treatment, during an armed incident near the border village of Siyanaw in Marivan County.

The incident took place near a position held by the army’s 328th Brigade, amid ongoing armed tensions between state forces and one of the Kurdish parties, according to information received by HANA.

The Islamic Republic’s army has claimed the position was struck by two suicide drones and an RPG rocket, and has attributed the attack to PJAK. However, as of this report, no group has formally claimed responsibility, and HANA has not obtained independent documentation that would conclusively establish the identity of those involved or the details of the clash.

Given the current state of information, HANA is recording this as an unattributed armed incident along the Marivan border strip, and is withholding any definitive assignment of responsibility or final legal classification of the confrontation until sufficient evidence can be established.
