14 Workers Injured in Maku County Due to Carbon Monoxide Leak

According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at least 14 workers suffered severe poisoning due to a carbon monoxide leak at a garment manufacturing factory in Maku County.

Reports indicate that the affected workers were transported to the hospital in three ambulances for medical treatment and are currently under medical supervision.

Carbon monoxide leaks pose a significant threat in industrial environments, often resulting from failure to comply with safety standards and inadequate ventilation systems. This incident once again highlights the lack of oversight in ensuring workplace safety.

Many factories and industrial workshops in Iran, particularly in underprivileged areas, lack standard safety systems, proper ventilation, and basic health protection measures for workers.

The lack of effective supervision by authorities, employer negligence in providing safety measures, and insufficient training for workers contribute to increased workplace hazards and accidents. Many workers, driven by economic hardships and the absence of legal protections, are forced to work in unsafe and substandard conditions.
