Report by the Hana Human Rights Organization on the Horrific Femicide of Khadijeh Rajabi in Oshnavieh

According to published reports, Khadijeh Rajabi, a middle-aged woman originally from the village of Darlak in Mahabad County and a resident of Oshnavieh, was brutally murdered inside her private residence.

Based on obtained information, several intruders entered her home, stole her gold and valuables, and subsequently subjected her to extreme violence. Reports indicate that the perpetrators of this heinous crime decapitated the victim before setting her body on fire.

Several days after this shocking crime, law enforcement and judicial authorities have yet to provide a transparent or responsible official statement regarding the details of the incident, the identity of the perpetrators, the progress of the investigation, or the specific measures taken to criminally prosecute those responsible.
The Hana Human Rights Organization views this horrific femicide as a deeply disturbing indicator of escalating violence against women, the erosion of social security, the rise of violent crime, and the failure of protective and preventative frameworks. Such atrocities cannot be minimized as isolated, individual incidents; rather, they must be analyzed within the broader socio-economic context of poverty, economic instability, weak institutional protections for women, and the systemic inability of responsible agencies to guarantee the safety of citizens.

Hana emphasizes that the right to life, personal security, human dignity, and the right to effective legal protection are among the most fundamental rights of citizens. Governing institutions bear a binding obligation to protect the lives and security of individuals, particularly women and vulnerable groups, by enacting immediate and effective measures. Silence, delayed communication, and a lack of transparency in judicial proceedings not only undermine public trust but also intensify the pervasive sense of insecurity and vulnerability within society.

The Hana Human Rights Organization demands an immediate, independent, impartial, and transparent investigation into the femicide of Khadijeh Rajabi. It calls for the swift identification and prosecution of the perpetrators in strict compliance with fair trial standards, alongside the implementation of serious, systemic policies to combat the economic, social, and institutional roots of violent crime and violence against women in Iran.
