HANA Human Rights Organization has learned that Younes Nabizadeh, 37, from the village of Delow in Orumiyeh County, has been sentenced by Branch One of the Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Najafzadeh, to 10 years and one day in ta’zir imprisonment on a charge of “membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”
His case was heard via video conference, and the entire proceeding, from start to finish, lasted around three minutes, according to information received.
Nabizadeh was arrested by security forces in Orumiyeh on June 6, 2024, without a judicial warrant. Following his arrest, agents searched his home and confiscated a number of his personal belongings.
Sources close to HANA say he spent nearly two months in solitary confinement at the Orumiyeh Intelligence Office detention facility after his arrest. During this period, he was subjected to intense physical and psychological pressure, which ultimately forced him to sign confessions against himself.
Nabizadeh had previously been summoned, interrogated, and threatened by security agencies on numerous occasions, and had at times faced pressure and mistreatment, owing to his family ties to a member of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, particularly during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests.
