Two Brothers and Another Citizen Arbitrarily Arrested by Security Forces in Mahabad

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, in the early hours of Monday, May 25, 2026, three Kurdish citizens from the village of Bafravan in the Shamat district of Mahabad were detained by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to Hana’s informed sources, Mansour Abbasi, alongside brothers Ahad Kheiri and Vahed Kheiri, were arbitrarily arrested during a sudden raid by security forces on their private residences, entirely without the presentation of a judicial warrant.

The report details that following their simultaneous arrests and transfer to an unknown facility, these citizens have been completely cut off from the outside world, denied their fundamental right to contact their families or access legal counsel.

As of the drafting of this report, despite the passage of several hours since they were taken, authorities have maintained a strict silence. No official information has been released regarding their whereabouts, physical well-being, or the charges leveled against them.
Snatching citizens from their homes without legal warrants, holding them in secret locations, and deliberately depriving them of basic legal and familial support are glaring violations of fair trial standards and the fundamental human rights enshrined in international treaties, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
