A Citizen Wounded by Direct Fire from Islamic Republic Military Forces in Javanrud

According to reports received by Hana, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Farouq Mahmoudi, a Kurdish citizen from the village of Sheikh Saleh in the Salas-e Babajani district, was severely wounded by direct fire from the armed forces of the Islamic Republic at the Sheikh Saleh border market, without any prior warning or clear justification.

Following the impact of live ammunition, this Kurdish citizen was rushed to a hospital in Javanrud. Now, four days later, he remains under intensive medical care and is undergoing surgical procedures.

Hana emphasizes that over the past weeks and months, a disturbing number of incidents have been documented involving direct fire by the Islamic Republic’s armed forces targeting Kurdish citizens, local tradesmen, and unarmed civilians in border regions.

These relentless attacks have resulted in several tragic fatalities and left numerous others severely injured.
The continuation of this deadly pattern, coupled with the absolute impunity shielding the perpetrators of this violence from prosecution, has fueled grave concerns regarding the escalation of human rights violations and the persistent policy of systematic repression across Kurdistan.

Unleashing lethal force against unarmed citizens stands in stark defiance of the international obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, specifically violating the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, as well as the UN Basic Principles on the Use of Force and Firearms by Law Enforcement Officials.
