Saqez / A media activist was sentenced to 2 years in prison

Colleagues of the Hana Human Rights Organization stated; Mustafa Hamdi, a media activist from Saqez, was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Saqez to two years in prison on Wednesday (August 4, 2021).

 

He was sentenced to eight months in prison for "propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic" and to 12 months in prison for "insulting the founder and leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
At the same time, two other media activists, Keyvan Rahimzadeh and Khaled Narin, who were Hamdi's collaborators, were summoned and interrogated by security Agencies.

Reporters have denied the defamation allegations, saying they have told the truth. Pressure on independent media in Kurdistan is constant.
