Rasoul Kazemi Transferred to Khorramabad Central Prison to Serve His Sentence

According to HANA Human Rights Organization, Rasoul Kazemi, a resident of Khorramabad and a veteran wounded during the Iran-Iraq War, was arrested on Thursday, June 18, 2026, and transferred to Khorramabad Central Prison (Parsilon) to serve his sentence.

According to informed sources, this action followed the issuance of an enforcement order by Branch Five of the Khorramabad General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office. Rasoul Kazemi had previously been arrested by security forces in October 2025 for publishing critical content on social media. After completing interrogation and judicial proceedings, he was released on bail, but was ultimately sentenced by the Khorramabad Revolutionary Court to two years and two months in ta’zir imprisonment on charges of “propaganda activity against the state” and “insulting the Supreme Leader on social media.” This sentence was upheld in full on appeal.

Expressing concern over the continued issuance and enforcement of prison sentences in cases involving peaceful activities and the expression of critical views, HANA Human Rights Organization stresses the importance of upholding the right to freedom of expression and ensuring fair trial guarantees. HANA also notes that the physical condition of prisoners, particularly those dealing with war injuries or underlying health conditions, must be taken into account throughout their detention and imprisonment, and their access to adequate medical services and healthcare must be guaranteed.
