Kurdish Researchers Kazhal Mobaraki and Jamal Ahmadzadeh Remain in Detention at Orumiyeh Prison

According to information received by Hana, Kazhal Mobaraki and Jamal Ahmadzadeh, two researchers at Orumiyeh University of Medical Sciences, remain in custody following their transfer from a security detention center to Orumiyeh Central Prison. More than a month and a half after their arrest, the charges against these two researchers have not yet been officially announced.

Kazhal Mobaraki, from Dehgolan, and her husband Jamal Ahmadzadeh, from Mahabad, were arrested by security forces in late June-July 2026 in Orumiyeh while inside their car. According to Hana’s information, the officers did not present a judicial warrant at the time of the arrest.

Following their arrest, the two researchers were transferred to a security center in Orumiyeh, where they were interrogated for several weeks. During this period, they were denied access to a lawyer and family visits. After the interrogation phase concluded, they were transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison. To date, no clear information has been released regarding the exact nature of their charges or the timeline for their case proceedings.
