According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Nabi Omidi, an associate professor of economics and financial management at Payame Noor University in illam, has been sentenced to five years in prison and dismissed from the university for supporting the protests in Malekshahi.
Following his arrest, the university professor was held in solitary confinement for 30 days before being transferred to illam Prison, where he has remained since January.
In addition to the five-year prison sentence, Nabi Omidi has been banned from leaving Iran and prohibited from entering Malekshahi County.
However, as of the publication of this report, no official details have been released regarding the authority that issued the sentence or the charges brought against him.
