Nima Ahmadi Temporarily Released on One Billion Tomans Bail

Nima Ahmadi, an expelled student from Sanandaj, was temporarily released on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, after posting one billion tomans in bail.

According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, he had been arrested on September 16, 2026, coinciding with the third anniversary of the state killing of Jina Amini, at the entrance to Aichi Cemetery in Saqqez. He was reportedly arrested through the use of violence and physical assault by security forces.

Nima Ahmadi had been held on charges of “disturbing public order.” According to information received by Hana, he was beaten by security forces both at the time of his arrest and during his detention.

His release on bail does not mark the end of the judicial proceedings, and the case concerning the charges against him remains open.

Nima Ahmadi’s arrest took place amid increased summonses, arrests, and security pressure against citizens and activists in various cities across Kurdistan, ahead of the anniversary of Jina Amini’s death. Hana had previously documented this wave of arrests and security measures in a separate report.
