Intelligence Ministry Forces Raid the Home and Workplace of Dr. Komar Hosseinzadeh in Bukan

According to information received by HANA Human Rights Organization, Intelligence Ministry forces have in recent days raided the home and veterinary clinic of Dr. Komar Hosseinzadeh, a 40-year-old veterinarian from Bukan, searching both premises and confiscating a number of his personal belongings. His family was also subjected to pressure and security related intimidation during the operation.

According to available information, no judicial or security authority has officially disclosed the reasons for his arrest, the charges brought against him, or the legal basis for the actions taken against him. At the same time, nothing is known about his whereabouts or his physical and legal condition.

In recent days, his family has approached security and judicial institutions in an effort to learn about his fate, but has received no clear answers. Informed sources report that security agencies have even refused to confirm his arrest or detention, a situation that has raised serious concerns about arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance.

Dr. Komar Hosseinzadeh is married and has a teenage child. Several days have now passed since his arrest, and no information about his condition has been made available to his family or the public.

HANA Human Rights Organization strongly condemns these actions. Detaining individuals without a warrant or charges, raiding homes and workplaces, confiscating personal property, and denying families the right to know the fate of their loved ones constitute a clear violation of the principles of fair trial, the right to liberty and personal security, and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s international obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Under Article 9 of that Covenant, no one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest or detention, and anyone who is arrested must be promptly informed of the reasons for their arrest.

The continued absence of any information about Dr. Komar Hosseinzadeh’s fate, and the refusal of security agencies to provide any details about his whereabouts or condition, is a troubling example of the extralegal and security driven practices that have been repeated for years in Kurdish regions, persisting in an environment of near total impunity for those responsible.

Such actions not only violate individuals’ fundamental rights, but leave families in a state of constant anxiety, uncertainty, and suffering. HANA Human Rights Organization stresses that direct responsibility for the life, physical and psychological wellbeing, and legal rights of Dr. Komar Hosseinzadeh lies with the detaining institutions and responsible authorities. In this regard, the Director General of West Azerbaijan Province Intelligence and the Prosecutor of Bukan bear direct legal responsibility for his condition, safety, and wellbeing, and must be held accountable for immediately disclosing his place of detention, his legal status, and ensuring his access to a lawyer and his family.
