According to reports received by HANA Human Rights Organization, Hamid Mohammadzadeh, a young Kurdish man from the village of Biar in Ashkhaneh County, North Khorasan Province, and a well-known Choukheh wrestling champion, was arrested by security forces on Saturday, July 4, 2026, and taken to an undisclosed location.
Security forces raided his home and arrested him without a judicial warrant, according to information received. No responsible authority has since offered any explanation for the arrest, the charges against him, or where he is being held.
Several days on, his family remains in the dark about his whereabouts and condition, and their efforts to learn what has happened to him have gone nowhere. He has also been denied access to a lawyer, phone calls, and family visits since his arrest.
Hamid Mohammadzadeh is a well-known figure in Choukheh wrestling in North Khorasan and a champion of the sport.
