17 Year Old Karwan Souri Temporarily Released on Four Billion Tomans Bail

According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Karwan Souri, a 17-year-old teenager from the village of Shinawa in Miandoab County, has been temporarily released on bail of four billion tomans after four days in detention.

He was arrested on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after Ministry of Intelligence forces raided and searched his family home. He was subsequently transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility in Miandoab.

Under international law concerning children, Karwan Souri is considered a child because he is under the age of 18 and must receive the special protections and legal safeguards afforded to children throughout detention and judicial proceedings.

His father, Abdollah Souri, was also previously arrested by security forces in December 2025 and subsequently sentenced to imprisonment.

As of the publication of this report, no clear information is available regarding the charges brought against Karwan Souri or the status of his case.
