Mamostā Qader Nawkhasi, Religious Figure Close to the Government, Shot in Javanrud

According to reports received by the Hana Organization for Human Rights, Qader Nawkhasi, head of the Javanrud Assembly of the “Followers of Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil” and a religious figure close to the government, was targeted in a shooting by unidentified armed individuals.

In this attack, he was struck by three bullets. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to a hospital and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit.

This incident has been reported alongside several killings and armed attacks targeting individuals associated with institutions of the Islamic Republic in the cities of Kurdistan. Those targeted in these attacks are, for the most part, figures referred to in Kurdistan’s political discourse as “jash.” This historical term is applied to Kurds who collaborate with the governmental and security structures of central authorities, particularly in countering Kurdistan’s political movements and demands.

Despite the shared context of these attacks, no reliable information has yet been released regarding any possible connection between them, the identity of the assailants, or the motive behind the attack on Qader Nawkhasi, and no individual or group has claimed responsibility for it.
