Femicide in Saqqez: Woman and Her Father Killed in Shooting

Fereshteh Rahmanzadeh, from the village of Khordeh Loki in Saqqez County’s Sarshiw district, was shot dead today, Sunday, July 12, 2026, along with her father Ali Rahmanzadeh, at a garden house on the old Saqqez–Marivan road behind Saqqez airport, according to reports received by HANA Human Rights Organization.

Fereshteh had separated from her husband, Salah Farajpour, 45, from the village of Kaomaleh in the same district. She had gone to the property with her father and four enforcement officers to carry out a court order and take possession of belongings awarded to her under the ruling, according to preliminary information. During the process, Farajpour opened fire on the group with a firearm, killing both Fereshteh and her father.

HANA Human Rights Organization is recording this case as a femicide based on the information currently available, while continuing to independently verify its full scope and details. A definitive account of every aspect and motive behind the incident will require that verification process to run its course, and HANA is not yet in a position to confirm all details with certainty. No responsible authority has issued any official statement on the specifics of the case or the status of the suspect. Farajpour fled the scene after the shooting and, as of this report, has not been apprehended.
