HANA Follow-up Report: Fathers of Three Killed in Attack on Komala Base Abducted and Detained as Pressure on Families in Bukan Intensifies

The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Anwar Nikikhah, father of Siavan Nikikhah; Ali Sadeghi, father of Reza Sadeghi; and Yousef Feqeh Hasan-Agha, father of Zakaria Feqeh Hasan-Agha, victims of the recent attack by the Islamic Republic of Iran on the headquarters of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, have been abducted or arrested by security forces in Bukan and transferred to unknown locations.

According to received information, Anwar Nikikhah was abducted by security forces in recent days. Ali Sadeghi and Yousef Feqeh Hasan-Agha were also arrested on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, and transferred to an unknown location. To date, no official information regarding the reason and legal basis for the arrests, their whereabouts, their physical and legal conditions, or the fate of these three citizens has been provided to their families, and they have been deprived of contact with their families and access to an independent lawyer.

These actions take place as security pressure on the families of the victims of the attack on the Komala headquarters in Bukan has increased. Hana has also received information regarding threats and pressure exerted on the family of Kasra Rahmannejad, another victim from Bukan. Targeting relatives due to the membership or political activities of their family members is a violation of the principle of personal responsibility and constitutes a retaliatory action against the families of the victims.

The abduction or arrest of individuals by government agents, coupled with the concealment of their whereabouts and the refusal to disclose their fate, can contain elements of enforced disappearance. This situation effectively places the detained individuals outside the effective protection of the law and increases the risk of torture, ill-treatment, forced confessions, and violations of their right to life and health.

During the attack by the Islamic Republic of Iran on the headquarters of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, 10 Peshmerga lost their lives. Reza Sadeghi, Kasra Rahmannejad, Siavan Nikikhah, and Zakaria Feqeh Hasan-Agha, four of the victims of this attack, were from Bukan county.

The Hana Human Rights Organization calls for the immediate and official disclosure of the whereabouts and condition of Anwar Nikikhah, Ali Sadeghi, and Yousef Feqeh Hasan-Agha, the facilitation of their contact with their families and effective access to an independent lawyer, and an end to any threats or retaliatory actions against the families of the victims. The local prosecutor and the Director-General of Intelligence for West Azerbaijan Province, as the responsible judicial and security authorities, are obligated to clarify the fate of these individuals and guarantee their lives, health, and safety, and must be held accountable for any potential torture, ill-treatment, or harm.
