According to the Hana Human Rights Organization, security forces arrested 52-year-old Shahram Amini, a father of three from Marivan, at the Bashmaq border crossing on Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2026. Following his arrest, he was transferred to an undisclosed location.
Hana reports that Mr. Amini was detained while returning from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq alongside his family. His son, Milad Amini, told the “Hana” that the family had traveled to the region specifically to visit him, and security agents apprehended his father on their way back.
Two weeks later, the family remains entirely in the dark regarding Mr. Amini’s fate and whereabouts. He continues to be systematically denied basic due process rights, including access to legal counsel, family visitation, and phone calls.
