Soroush Karami Charged with “Moharebeh” After More Than Five Months in Detention

According to reports received by HANA Human Rights Organization, Soroush Karami, an 18-year-old citizen from Kermanshah who was arrested during the January 2026 protests, has been transferred to the security ward of Dizelabad Prison after more than five months in one of the Kermanshah Intelligence Office’s detention facilities, where he has now been formally charged with “moharebeh” (enmity against God).

According to an informed source, Soroush Karami was held for five months and ten days at the Kermanshah Intelligence Office detention facility before being transferred to the security ward of Dizel Abad Prison on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

The source added that his case has been handled by Branch 16 of the Kermanshah Investigation Office and was recently referred to one of the branches of the Kermanshah Revolutionary Court for further proceedings. Alongside his transfer to Dizelabad Prison, he was also formally charged with “moharebeh.”

From the time of his arrest until his transfer to prison, Soroush Karami was held at one of the Kermanshah Intelligence Office’s detention facilities. Throughout this period, his family had no clear information about his condition or whereabouts, and their efforts to learn about his fate and the status of his case proved unsuccessful.
