IRGC Begins Digging Operations in the Heights Around Sardasht

According to information received by HANA Human Rights Organization, IRGC forces have spent the past two days using heavy machinery, including excavators, to carry out digging and earth-moving operations in the Jatrawe area, in the highlands between the villages of Shamouleh, Darsavin, and Hawrazeh in Sardasht County.

IRGC forces have told local residents that the operation aims to recover the remains of a number of their personnel killed in past clashes with Kurdish opposition parties, including Komala and the Democratic Party, according to information received by HANA.

Local sources say the operation has caused widespread concern among residents, and beyond the damage already done to the area’s terrain and vegetation, uncertainty about the operation’s true purpose has only deepened that concern. According to these sources, no responsible authority has yet offered residents any clear, official explanation of the scope or aim of what is taking place.
