On January 16, 2025, a 7-year-old girl named Nian Jebreilpur (Chelbian) from Bukan city was transferred to Bukan hospital due to severe torture and sexual assault. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.
Hana’s investigations revealed that Nian’s parents were divorced, and she was living with her father. Shortly after the divorce, her father began a relationship with another woman. Due to the father’s trust and potential neglect, this woman and her brother subjected Nian to horrific abuse, including sexual assault. The severity of the assault caused Nian to become critically ill. When her father returned home, he found her unconscious and rushed her to the hospital.
Medical examinations confirmed the sexual assault. Despite being transferred to a hospital in Orumiyeh for specialized care, Nian passed away in the ICU on January 17.
The Hana Human Rights Organization strongly condemns this heinous crime. They argue that the lack of adequate protective laws in Iran for children has created a legal environment that facilitates such atrocities. The definitions of rape and sexual abuse in Iranian law do not align with international standards, resulting in a systemic failure to protect children’s rights.
