On Saturday, March 6, 2021, Omid Karami, a political prisoner from Sanandaj, was released from the city’s central prison after completing his one-year sentence, according to a report by The Hana Human Rights Network, quoted by The Hengaw Human Rights Organization.
Omid Karami was arrested on October 10, 2019, during protesting Turkish army inviting Syrian Kurdistan, by the people of Sanandaj . He was released on bail of 700 million Tomans and temporarily released from prison after a month of detention.
On Monday, January 10, 2020, he was sentenced to one year imprisonment and 74 floggings by Branch 104 of the Criminal Court 2 of the city on charges of "disturbing public order and comfort."
Omid Karami was eventually arrested on Saturday, June 6, 2020, and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison for completing the sentence
