Death Sentence Issued Against Hadi Abbasian a Protester Arrested During the January 2026 Protests

The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Hadi Abbasian, a 38-year-old citizen from Shirvan, has been sentenced to death by the Bojnurd Revolutionary Court. The sentence was formally communicated to him at Shirvan Prison on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Hadi Abbasian was arrested by security forces on May 3, 2026, in the Farhang Shahr area of Shirvan. According to the report, during the December 2025 protests, he had published videos on social media calling on people to participate in demonstrations.

Abbasian was reportedly subjected to torture on the first day of his arrest and was transferred to a hospital after his physical condition deteriorated. Following medical treatment, he was transferred to Shirvan Prison, where he has remained detained ever since.

His family has also been denied visits with him since his arrest. Meanwhile, the citizen has been denied access to a lawyer of his own choosing throughout all stages of the proceedings.
