HANA Human Rights Organization has learned that Ahmad Alizadeh, a retired teacher and civil activist from Abdanan, has been sentenced by the illam Revolutionary Court, in a separate case, to ta’zir imprisonment, a travel ban, and additional supplementary punishments.
According to information received, the verdict was issued on June 15, 2026, by a branch of the illam Revolutionary Court presided over by Judge Rajab Mohammadi, and was communicated to him in person.
In this case, Ahmad Alizadeh was sentenced to two years in ta’zir imprisonment, inclusive of time already served in detention, on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic,” “propaganda in favor of groups opposed to the state,” and “insulting the founder and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.”
Under the ruling, he was also sentenced to a one-year travel ban, revocation of his passport should he possess one, and 1,080 hours of unpaid community service at the Abdanan municipality as supplementary punishment.
Ahmad Alizadeh had previously been arrested twice during the nationwide protests of 2022, after which he was forced into early retirement with reduced benefits. In a separate case, he was sentenced to 27 months in ta’zir imprisonment, two years of internal exile to Fanuj County, two years of suspension from employment, and a one-year ban on online activity, on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic,” “disturbing public opinion,” and “forming a group with the intent to undermine national security.” That sentence began in November 2023, and upon completing his prison term, he was sent to Fanuj County to serve his term of exile.
