Hana: News sources published the news of a heavy sentence of 6 years for “Somayeh Kargar”, a Kurdish civil activist from Ilam city, and 4 other people from Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran.
It is stated in the published reports; The court charged the five civil activists with "participation in the management of an illegal group and propaganda activities against the regime," with Nahid Taghvaei and Mehran Raouf serving nine years and ten years and eight months in prison, Nazanin Mohamadnejad three years in prison, and Somayeh Kargar and Bahareh Soleimani were sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison.
Somayeh Kargar is a civil activist from Ilam and a graduate of the University of Tabriz with a degree in philosophy. She was arrested on October 16, 2020, at her private home after an influx of security forces without a court order. Iranian security agents seized Somayeh's personal belongings, including her laptop and mobile phone, during her detention. Somayeh was interrogated in Iranian security detention centers, including Evin Prison, for more than 4 months, after which she was transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin.
She had one of the rare eye diseases, but was denied access to her medication and a doctor at the time of her arrest, and was scheduled to return to France in November 2020 for further medical treatment and supervision. She was asked to stop talking in Kurdish, to which she replied: "I can not express my feelings to my children in a language other than Kurdish.
