Mohammad Mehdi Karami, 22 years old, originally from the Kutan Sofla village in Takab County and a resident of Karaj, was sentenced to death on 7 December 2022 by Branch One of the Alborz Province Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mousa Asaf al-Hosseini. He was convicted on the charge of “corruption on earth through crimes against internal security” (moharebeh) in connection with the nationwide protests sparked by the state killing of Jina (Mahsa) Amini. He was executed on 7 January 2023.
It should be noted that the court session addressing the charges against Mohammad Mehdi Karami, along with Seyed Mohammad Hosseini and 13 other citizens, was held on Wednesday, 30 November 2022. They were prosecuted as defendants in the case related to the killing of a Basij member named Ruhollah Ajamian. In this session, Mohammad Mehdi Karami was introduced as the first defendant, and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini as the second defendant in the case.
