He was arrested by IRGC Intelligence forces in Qorveh in early May 2026, and throughout his detention was held in a state of uncertainty, with no official word on the charges against him or how his case was proceeding. His family’s repeated appeals to judicial authorities failed to produce any clear answer about why his detention was dragging on or what was happening with his case.
Khaledian went on hunger strike for a time to protest his continued detention, the legal limbo he was held in, and the lack of any concrete progress on his case. He staged this protest, according to available reports, while under pressure to confess during his detention, with neither he nor his family given any official information about the charge against him or the evidence in the file.
His arrest has been linked to the January 2026 protests. Khaledian had previously been arrested during the 2022 protests and taken to the Shahramfar base in Sanandaj, before being released on bail after two weeks; his earlier case was later included in an amnesty.
