The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Arya Nourani, a public school teacher and Kurdish citizen from Maneh county in North Khorasan province, has been sentenced to 14 months of Ta’zir imprisonment by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to received information, this verdict was formally served to him in recent days by the judicial authorities of North Khorasan province. In the issued notification, without providing any explanation regarding the specific charges, case evidence, cited legal articles, or the reasoning behind the court’s decision, it merely states this citizen’s sentence of 14 months of Ta’zir imprisonment.
Arya Nourani was previously arrested by security forces in Maneh county during the nationwide protests in January 2026 and transferred to a security detention center for interrogation. Following approximately two weeks in custody, he was temporarily released from prison upon posting a heavy bail pending the conclusion of his judicial proceedings.
It is worth noting that prior to his arrest, Nourani was employed as an official elementary school teacher under the Ministry of Education in Maneh county.
