Pourya Valizadeh Violently Arrested in Bijar

According to reports received by HANA Human Rights Organization, on the evening of Thursday, June 11, 2026, Pourya Valizadeh, a 22-year-old from Bijar, was violently arrested by state forces and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received, state forces attacked this citizen on one of Bijar’s streets without a judicial warrant and without any prior warning, and after beating and physically assaulting him, forced him into a vehicle and drove away. Pourya Valizadeh had also been under pressure and pursued by security agencies in recent months over what those agencies described as his “participation in last year’s January protests.”

At the time of this report, no information has been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest, possible charges, his place of detention, or his current condition. Despite their efforts to follow up, his family remains unaware of his fate or whereabouts.

HANA Human Rights Organization, while expressing concern over the violent arrest of Pourya Valizadeh and the continued lack of information about his condition and place of detention, stresses that the use of physical violence in the arrest of citizens, particularly when carried out without a judicial warrant and outside legal procedures, violates the right to liberty and personal security and runs counter to the principle of inherent human dignity. HANA also notes that keeping families in the dark about the fate and whereabouts of detainees creates conditions for further violations of their rights and increases the risk of mistreatment and unlawful conduct during detention.
