Despite the passage of decades since the end of the Iran-Iraq War, landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to pose a serious threat to the lives and safety of civilians in many border regions of Kurdistan. These remnants of war continue to claim new victims every year, resulting in deaths and injuries among local residents.
