According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Amir Yousefi, a citizen from the village of Salamat in Bukan County, remains in detention after 14 days, with gathered information indicating he is in poor physical and psychological condition.
According to obtained details, Mr. Yousefi recently informed his family during a brief phone call that his physical and mental well-being has severely deteriorated. Although his family was initially notified that he could be released on bail, authorities have so far refused to accept the bond despite the family’s formal application and submission of the required bail amount.
The report notes that Amir Yousefi, who is married and the father of two children, was arrested by security forces in Bukan on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Following a one-day detention at a facility in Bukan, he was transferred to a security detention center in Orumiyeh, where he continues to be held.
Two weeks into his detention, the responsible authorities have failed to provide any transparent explanation regarding the grounds for his arrest, the allegations leveled against him, or the legal status of his case.
The prolonged detention without clear legal justification, his confinement in a security facility, the denial of effective access to independent legal counsel, and the rejection of his bail have drastically fueled concerns regarding the violation of this citizen’s fundamental rights, including the right to a fair trial and the statutory guarantees afforded to detainees.
The Hana Human Rights Organization demands immediate transparency regarding the status of Amir Yousefi, urgent medical and psychological attention to his well-being, the unconditional guarantee of his right to contact his family and legal counsel, and strict adherence to statutory rights and fair trial principles throughout his legal proceedings.
