Mohsen Niyazi, a 33-year-old from Dehgolan, was severely injured on November 20, 2022, during the nationwide protests following the state killing of Jina Amini in the city. He was directly shot in the lower back by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and later died from his injuries after being transferred to Kowsar Hospital in Sanandaj.
After Mohsen Niyazi’s death, security forces stormed the courtyard of Kowsar Hospital, engaging in clashes and shooting at his family and relatives in an attempt to seize his body. With the support of the people of Dehgolan and the gathering of young protesters around the hospital in Sanandaj, they were unable to succeed. Eventually, Mohsen Niyazi’s body was buried with honor in Dehgolan Cemetery, with a large turnout of local residents.
It should be noted that the cause of death listed on Mohsen Niyazi’s death certificate was reported as “unknown.”
