Esmaeil Karimi Rearrested and Transferred to Bukan Prison

According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Esmaeil Karimi, a former political prisoner and citizen from Bukan, was arrested after being summoned to Branch Two of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Bukan and subsequently transferred to Bukan Prison.

According to the information received, Mr. Karimi had been summoned in connection with an increase in the bail amount set in his case. However, after appearing at the prosecutor’s office, he was issued a temporary detention order and transferred to prison. The charges brought against him in the new case are reportedly “membership in opposition groups.”

Esmaeil Karimi had previously been arrested by Intelligence Department forces in Bukan on March 19, 2026. He was subsequently held for approximately two months in the Intelligence Department detention facility and in solitary confinement at Bukan Prison before being temporarily released on bail.

As of the publication of this report, no further information is available regarding the proceedings in his new case.
