According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Khabat Dehdar, a labor, civil rights, and environmental activist and former political prisoner from Sanandaj, has been sentenced by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran to one year of suspended imprisonment and a fine of five million tomans.
According to the ruling, the prison sentence has been suspended, and Dehdar has also been ordered to report to security agencies every three months to register his presence.
Khabat Dehdar is a member of the Chel Chameh cultural and mountaineering group, the management council of the campaign for access to drinking water and the protection of Sanandaj’s water resources, and the joint secretariat of the city’s civil activists.
On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the civil rights activist was arrested by security forces at his workplace without the presentation of a judicial warrant and transferred to an undisclosed location. At the same time, security forces went to his father’s home, searched the house, and inspected the family’s personal belongings.
After 32 days in detention, Khabat Dehdar was temporarily released from Sanandaj Central Prison on Saturday, March 14, 2026, after posting bail.
It should be noted that Dehdar has previously faced repeated action by the security and judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran because of his civil and labor activities and has a history of arrest.
