According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Monday, September 21, 2026, Mehdi Pakmehr, a Kurdish artist and singer from Bojnurd, was transferred to Bojnurd Central Prison to begin serving a six-year and three-month Ta’zir imprisonment sentence.
The Kurdish artist was previously arrested by security forces while injured during the December 2025 protests and remained in detention for more than two months. He was subsequently released on bail of six billion tomans.
In two separate cases before the Revolutionary Court and Criminal Court of Bojnurd, he was sentenced to a total of six years and three months of Ta’zir imprisonment and 74 lashes.
According to informed sources, Pakmehr was tried without effective access to legal counsel or a meaningful opportunity to defend himself. Security forces also confiscated his mobile phone when transferring him to prison.
