Two prisoners have lost their lives in Qarchak and Yazd prisons due to denial of medical care

Based on received reports, on Friday, September 19, 2025, two prisoners identified as Jamileh Azizi and Mohammad Manqali lost their lives in Qarchak Varamin and Yazd prisons due to medical neglect and denial of access to healthcare.

According to the report, Jamileh Azizi, held in Qarchak Varamin Prison, had long been suffering from a severe illness and extensive body swelling. However, for more than ten days, prison officials prevented her transfer to the infirmary, and she ultimately died as a result of being denied medical treatment. This happened despite the fact that her bail had already been secured and she was expected to be released soon. Her family and relatives have held prison authorities directly responsible for her death.

On the same day, Mohammad Manqali, a prisoner jailed for financial charges in Yazd Prison, died after being taken to the prison’s infirmary with symptoms of shortness of breath, due to lack of medical attention.

According to a well-informed source, despite observing his symptoms, the prison doctor accused him of faking illness and refused to provide appropriate treatment.
