According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Keyvan Ashtab, a 30-year-old nurse from Mahabad County, was recently arrested after receiving a judicial summons and appearing before the Sentence Enforcement Branch. He was subsequently transferred to Mahabad Central Prison to serve his sentence.
In July-August 2026, Ashtab was sentenced to nine months of Ta’zir imprisonment by Branch One of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court on security-related charges, including “propaganda against the state.”
It should be noted that on Friday, June 20, 2025, Ashtab was arrested by Intelligence Department forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and transferred to one of the agency’s security detention facilities in Orumiyeh. After several weeks of detention and interrogation, he was transferred to Mahabad Prison and later temporarily released on bail.
