Hana: Sajjad Veisi, a Kurdish citizen from Kermanshah province and the younger brother of Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi, has been released after spending four months in the detention center of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization.
According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Sajjad Veisi was arrested by security forces on Sunday, February 22, 2026, while traveling on the road from Kermanshah to Sarpol-e Zahab en route to his wife’s family home.
Informed sources and human rights organizations have indicated that this citizen’s detention was not a standard arrest, but was rather utilized as a mechanism of extortion and pressure against his family members. According to these sources, security agencies had explicitly conditioned Sajjad Veisi’s release on the surrender of his two brothers, Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi, throughout his time in custody.
Sajjad Veisi is the younger brother of Meysam and Mojtaba Veisi, two prominent Kurdish cultural activists. The two brothers, who had been pursued by security agencies for several years, were killed in the early hours of Thursday, May 28, 2026, by direct fire from IRGC forces during an armed raid on their hideout in the village of Qaleh Kahoush in Kermanshah province.
As of the publication of this report, the security and judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have provided no explanation regarding the reasons for Sajjad Veisi’s arrest, the legal status of his case, or the allegations that his freedom was used as leverage to force the surrender of his brothers.
