Milad Ebrahimi Injured During the January Protests Sentenced to Imprisonment and a Fine in Kamyaran

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Milad Ebrahimi, 31, a resident of Kamyaran, who was injured by live ammunition fired by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces during the January 2026 protests and arrested some time later, has been sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to one year of Ta’zir imprisonment and a fine of 400 million tomans.

According to information received by Hana, a hearing on the charges against Ebrahimi was held in late October 2026 before Branch 101 of the Kamyaran Criminal Court Two. He was sentenced to the aforementioned penalties on the charge of “disrupting public order.” The verdict was formally communicated to him on October 25, 2026.

On the evening of January 8, 2026, during public protests in Kamyaran, Ebrahimi was seriously injured when IRGC forces opened fire and a live bullet struck his lower back. After being transferred to a medical facility in Sanandaj, he underwent surgery.

Hana had previously reported Ebrahimi’s arrest. On February 1, 2026, while still requiring rehospitalization and continued treatment for an infection caused by his gunshot wound, he was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents and transferred to the Intelligence Department detention facility in Sanandaj.

During his detention, Ebrahimi was denied access to a lawyer and adequate medical care. He was eventually released temporarily on bail on February 27, 2026, pending the completion of judicial proceedings.
