Mahabad: Another Kurdish citizen was executed in Mahabad

Hana: A Kurdish citizen was executed in Mahabad prison this morning, Wednesday June 30, 2021.

Mohammad Taher Soleimani, 65 years old, from Dizaj Marghor, Uromiah city, has been identified as this person.
He has been in prison for three years on charges of selling drugs, and his family was told on Tuesday to make a final appointment with him.
Iran is one of the countries where the death penalty is practiced, but due to the lack of free media and human rights organizations, there are no exact statistics on this, but according to official statistics, Iran has the highest number of executions in the world after China. It has the highest execution rate in the world relative to its population.

It should be noted that on November 17, 2020, 120 UN member states voted in favor of a resolution in the Third Committee of the General Assembly that repeatedly called for an end to the death penalty.

Iran has voted "no" to a UN resolution to abolish the death penalty. Apart of Iran, seven other countries have abstained.
