Hana Report: The Murder of Jana Sa’dooei and Attempts to Stage It as Suicide

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, May 16, 2026, Jana Sa’dooei, a 19-year-old woman, daughter of Bahri, and a resident of Tarimish village in the Qatour district of Khoy County, was murdered by her husband. Jana Sa’dooei was a mother of two, with her youngest child being only six months old.

An informed source told the Hana Human Rights Organization that Jana’s husband initially subjected her to a severe beating, which ultimately resulted in her death. According to the report, after ensuring his wife had passed away, the accused attempted to divert the investigation and tamper with evidence. He first severed one of the victim’s fingers and then hung her lifeless body to stage the cause of death as a “suicide.”

The source further added that Jana’s husband was initially arrested by the police in connection with the case, but he absconded following his temporary release.

An assessment of the information and details published regarding this case classifies it as an instance of femicide and fatal gender-based violence. Furthermore, from a criminal justice perspective, the attempt to stage a suicide and mutilate the victim’s body can be investigated as an effort to obstruct the truth-seeking process and disrupt judicial proceedings.
