Citizens Summoned and Threatened Over Expressing Condolences for Victims of Missile Strike on Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan

According to information received by HANA Human Rights Organization, following the Islamic Republic’s missile strike on a Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan camp that killed nine of the party’s peshmerga fighters, security agencies have summoned a number of citizens or threatened them by phone over posting images of the victims or expressing condolences to their families on social media.

Reports received by HANA show that Islamic Republic security agencies would not even tolerate messages of condolence and solidarity with the victims’ families, effectively criminalizing this peaceful, human gesture through summonses and threats against ordinary citizens.
